The king of the sea – Bass is a true prize. Drifting the spring tides for them using jigs and lures can be one of the most entertaining ways to fish.

Once elusive, now habitual frequenters of the waters of South Devon between July and November. The wrecks off South Devon’s coast provide the perfect opportunity for catching the much-prized Black Bream.

Fishing for Plaice is the most relaxed style of boat fishing available in the UK. Picture peaceful drifts across Start Bay, watching the rod tip while enjoying a cup of tea and the sun on your back (if only the UK weather was always like that!).

Pollack is a classic wreck fishing species. While stocks aren’t what they used to be, these fish still frequent the wrecks around South Devon.

Conger Eels are steeped in history. If the waters around South Devon could talk, they’d share countless stories of record-breaking catches, like the current world record, which was set in Brixham at an impressive 133lbs.

Ray fishing for Blonde Ray and Small Eyed Ray is one of my favourite pursuits. These rays feed on the features of the Skerries Bank, or as I like to call it, “the Costa Del Skerries,” just off Start Bay.
